University Project, 2018

Historical reconstruction from 'Patterns of Fashion 2' by Janet Arnold. A Day Dress from 1866-68 which was 60% hand sewn and 40% machine sewn. constructed with a boned bodice, an eight paneled skirt. All buttons are made from vegetable ivory and covered with felt and calico. all fringing was made by hand. All the double piping was applied by hand throughout. The hem is lined with cotton canvas and cotton velvet ribbon forms the trim. Sleeves are lined and sewn in by hand. The dress also has a sack pocket and a watch pocket constructed on the inside.
